Tom Distad: Guiding Clients Through Every Step of the Journey

Born and raised in Saint Paul’s Highland Park, Tom Distad’s connection to the Twin Cities began early, biking and running alongside his father along the Mississippi River and exploring neighborhoods through sports and recreation. These experiences fostered a love for the area’s rich culture, vibrant communities, and endless opportunities.

Tom attended Highland Catholic and Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul before earning his degree from the University of Iowa. Shortly after, he returned home to join the family business, partnering with his father in 2006 to build what is now The Distad Team.

In addition to his role as a trusted REALTOR®, Tom is a partner in Hilltop Development, a real estate development firm he runs with his brother, Mike, and a third investor. Hilltop Development’s portfolio includes apartment buildings, duplexes, multi-unit homes, and an exciting townhome project currently in progress.

Tom is also passionate about giving back. Since 2017, he has been an active member of the Saint Paul Optimist Club, volunteers weekly with Meals on Wheels, and is an active member of the Highland District Council where he helps shape an even more vibrant community. This participation to give back to the community reflects his dedication to making a positive impact in St Paul.

With nearly two decades of real estate experience, Tom has built a reputation for exceptional service and unmatched market knowledge, specializing in single-family homes, luxury new construction, and investment properties. Together with Mike, he is proud to carry on their father’s legacy while helping clients achieve their real estate goals.

When he’s not helping clients, Tom enjoys spending time with his two boys and tackling home renovation projects in Highland Park alongside his wife, Claire. Following in his father’s footsteps, Tom and his eldest son can often be found delivering meals around St. Paul, creating cherished memories together. And if he has any time to spare, Tom enjoys running the scenic Twin Cities trails. An accomplished marathoner, he’s completed the Chicago, Boston, and Twin Cities marathons—just one of the many ways he embraces the dynamic active Twin Cities lifestyle.
